En todos los estudios analizados se compararon la sensibilidad y la especificidad en la detecci\u00f3n de lesiones cancerosas en la piel utilizando im\u00e1genes obtenidas por un dermatoscopio y microscopio manual que aumentan 10 veces el tama\u00f1o de las muestras a analizar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Los algoritmos de IA fueron entrenados con grandes conjuntos de im\u00e1genes para reconocer patrones asociados con el c\u00e1ncer de piel, como la asimetr\u00eda, los bordes irregulares, el color y el di\u00e1metro, lo que permite una detecci\u00f3n m\u00e1s precisa y temprana de las lesiones. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Domingo Mery<\/strong>, que es coautor del estudio y uno de los investigadores principales del Instituto Milenio en Ingenier\u00eda e Inteligencia Artificial para la Salud (iHEALTH), coment\u00f3: <em>&#8220;Con muchos datos, el algoritmo logra aprender y despu\u00e9s t\u00fa le muestras una foto que nunca antes hab\u00eda visto y dice: Esta foto es un lunar cancer\u00edgeno&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>El equipo de investigaci\u00f3n espera que esta herramienta sea evaluada en contextos cl\u00ednicos reales, para garantizar su eficacia y seguridad en la pr\u00e1ctica diaria. Esta tecnolog\u00eda podr\u00eda agilizar las consultas dermatol\u00f3gicas, entendiendo que hay regiones de nuestro pa\u00eds sin acceso a dermat\u00f3logos, por lo que el acad\u00e9mico a\u00f1adi\u00f3: <em>&#8220;Hay muchas zonas en regiones que no cuentan con un dermat\u00f3logo, entonces lo que se puede hacer es telemedicina. Con tu c\u00e1mara logras poner la foto de un lunar y puedes tener personas del mundo de la medicina, que no tengan la especialidad de dermatolog\u00eda, que\u00a0operen estos algoritmos.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>El estudio analiz\u00f3 53 publicaciones de diversos investigadores internacionales y encontr\u00f3 que la IA no solo ser\u00eda capaz de igualar sino que tambi\u00e9n  podr\u00eda superar el desempe\u00f1o de los profesionales m\u00e9dicos en cuanto a la rapidez de la detecci\u00f3n temprana del c\u00e1ncer de piel. En cuanto a porcentajes, la sensibilidad de la IA para diagnosticar correctamente el c\u00e1ncer de piel fue del 89,4% con una especificidad del 68,2% lo que super\u00f3 ligeramente a los m\u00e9dicos generales, cuya sensibilidad fue del 79% y especificidad del 73%.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>En comparaci\u00f3n con dermat\u00f3logos expertos, la IA mostr\u00f3 un desempe\u00f1o de sensibilidad del 89,6% y una especificidad del 75,7%.
