Title: Exploring the “Process of Process Mining”: Can we make it (more) understandable for analysts?

Abstract: This talk presents our research into understanding the process of process mining by observing how process analysts interact with event logs during exploratory tasks. We will explore how user interaction and think-aloud data collected through empirical studies can reveal key insights into how analysts arrive at findings, as well as common challenges they encounter using existing tools. Based on these empirical results, I will highlight selected user-centered problems that remain unresolved, where improved methodological and tool support could support process mining analysts.
